AMOM and Culture: Bridging Healing and Heritage
At the Acupuncture and Massage School of Oriental Medicine (AMOM), culture is not just a background element—it is the core of our philosophy and practice. Our mission is to preserve, honor, and share the ancient healing wisdom of Eastern medicine, while preparing students to serve diverse modern communities.
🌿 Rooted in Eastern Traditions
AMOM integrates time-honored techniques such as:
Guasha (刮痧) – a traditional scraping therapy used for pain and circulation
Fire Cupping (拔罐) – a dynamic therapy to detoxify and stimulate healing
Moxibustion (艾灸) – warming techniques that boost energy and immunity
Reflexology, Acupressure, and Tuina massage – therapies that channel Qi and restore balance in the body
These practices are passed down through generations, and many of our students, especially from Asian heritage, have personal and family connections to these healing arts.
🧧 Cultural Immersion and Community
Our school calendar celebrates cultural significance:
We close for Chinese New Year, honoring family reunion and renewal.
We observe traditional holidays alongside national ones to acknowledge the heritage of our healing methods.
Our clinic integrates Eastern ambiance—from music and herbs to decor—to create an immersive healing space.
